About Sonrise Senior Citizens Villa

The Cascades Sonrise Apartments previously known as:  Sonrise Senior Citizens Villa was built in 1987 as a senior citizen 80 unit affordable housing community located at 7222 Sierra, Ave in Fontana, CA 92336. The community is located in the 35th Congressional District of California.  The organization from its inception has maintained full occupancy along with an extensive waiting list.

Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly

Since this property was built using funding through HUD’s Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program, residency is restricted to persons who earn 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or less. Like other rental assistance programs like Section 8, resident’s rents are based on their income and the tenant contribution is set at 30% of the tenant’s income.

The Loveland Church is one of the benefactors or sponsors of the affordable housing complex. The Loveland Church is a nonprofit which received its tax exemption under the 501-c 3 of the Internal Revenue Tax Code. Dr. Charles E Singleton is senior pastor of Loveland Church and President of Cascades Sonrise Development Corporation.   In order to better serve the senior residents with more modern upgrades and improve the building.  The Cascades Sonrise Development Corporation undertook the renovation of the building. CSDC completed these renovations via the tax credit process, transforming a three million dollar senior housing villa into a nine million dollar state of the art, solar panel senior affordable housing complex.

Luv Wins A Place for Seniors

Groundbreaking & Renovations

In 2018, the Loveland Church launched the “Luv Wins A Place for Seniors”, sub-committee. The committee came together to assist in raising the necessary funds to start the process to break ground on the renovation of the senior complex. The committee understood the need to develop housing for disadvantaged families, assist children at-risk and help women in domestic violence situations.  The Cascades Sonrise Development Corporation team joined forces with investors, other nonprofits, contractors, architects, and city government using the process of California tax credits to finance the project.
